a grown-up colouring book

January 7, 2011 § Leave a comment

2010 was a pretty eventful year for my family (a new baby, a Himalayan adventure, the acquisition and loss of chickens…), and one of the things that happened was my aunt bouncing off her bike onto her head, cracking 3 vertebrae and getting a moderate head injury.

She’s doing well, but recovery is a slow business and she’s stuck at home a lot trying to rebuild neural pathways. While she does this, she wants to also do some drawing. I’ve been working on some little cards with quick, simple drawing exercises to start her off, and also, just for fun, a sort of colouring book:-

If anyone has experience of re-learning how to draw following a head injury, I’d be really, really interested to hear about it. Any ideas for speedy, enjoyable drawing exercises would also be gratefully received.

If anyone fancies drawing in ‘who or what is living in the enormous beard?’ for collaborative fun, comment with your email address and I’ll send you a bigger image to play with.

Hugs and tea x.
