hello there!

June 27, 2011 § 2 Comments

It’s been a wee while. Here are some of the things I’ve been up to…

Thing One: getting slightly obsessed with the idea of the Green Man

Thing Two: ferreting about at flea markets, the best result being these beautifully illustrated Observer’s books (and yes, I was unreasonably delighted when I opened British Wild Flowers and someone else’s pressed sample fell out)

Thing Three: a little collaborative image for The Little Unsaid (I drew, Alex Horsfall and John Elliott photoshopped and rubber-stamped) which you can spot on their facebook page here.

Thing Four: looking at original Egon Schiele drawings at the Richard Nagy Gallery on Old Bond Street. The exhibition is on until the 30th, and if you’re near London I would highly recommend a look. The vitality and terseness of the drawing took my breath away (though I did leave with the unexpected conviction that his personality was something sleazy and sticky and unutterably distasteful, which came as a surprise because I never felt that from looking at prints – I think it was the knowledge that his hand had touched the drawings, coupled with a suspicion about other places his hands might have been…). This one is simply beautiful:-

Thing Five: consuming delicious things, including but not restricted to fresh baklava, sushi, roasted butternut squash, wild boar sausages, gin and tonic with homemade elderflower cordial, salmon and dill pate, spinach and goat’s cheese quiche, and some Moldovan wine which was almost as old as me. Yum!
